Age 61, passed away Sunday, November 9, 2008 peacefully at her home with her family at her side. She was born February 20, 1947 in Cadillac, MI, the daughter of Gordon and Alice (Schmidt) Frook. She was a 1965 graduate of Kenowa Hills High School. On March 21, 1969, she married Kenneth L. Brinks and he survives. She was a member of New Life Bible Baptist Church in Ypsilanti. Because of her faith and love in Jesus Christ, we know she is resting in His arms today. In addition to her husband, survivors include- her parents of Wayland, MI; one son, Douglas (Rebecca) Brinks of Ada, OK; one daughter, Michelle (Ken) Adams of Belleville; six grandchildren; one sister, Kathy (Dan) McRae of Plainwell, MI; and several nieces and nephews. On April 25, 1936, she married James Ira Castle in Floyd County, KY and He preceded her in death May 19, 1987. Mary worked at the cafeteria of General Motors-Willow Run Assembly Plant for ten years and was a homemaker. Survivors include- four daughters, Eleanor Szczotka of CA, Mary H. “Susie” Castle, Iris K. Castle and Jenny L. (Mike) Mellinger, all of Ypsilanti; two sons, Lanny R. of Ypsilanti and Danny G. (Marlina) of Kalkaska; ten grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews. Age 65, went to be with our Lord and Savior Thursday, November 6, 2008 at her home. She was born February 28, 1943 in Holmes Mill (Harlan County), KY, the daughter of Brad and Clercia (Witt) Kelly. On August 10, 1958, she married Oris B. “Whitey” Cloud and he preceded her in death September 20, 1995. She was a mighty prayer warrior and will be deeply missed by her prayer partners and best friends, Connie, Kathleen and Debbie. Treasea had a way of touching people’s lives and hearts with her gentle spirit and unconditional love. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Treasea is survived by- two sons, Marlon David (Kim) Cloud of Milan and Oris Odell (Alda) Cloud of Milan; two brothers, Clayton Odell (Erika) Kelly and David Bradley (Sharon) Kelly; sister, Tena (Garney) Clark; seven grandchildren whom she cherished and adored, Sara (David) Short, Jessica (Darryl) Wohlgemuth, Derek, Jordan and Nicole Cloud, Nicki Cross and Justin McClure; four great grandchildren, Christopher, Mason, Serenity and Ryleigh; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She is survived by her husband of 43 years Kenneth R. Cobb, daughters Sharon Eberle, Sheila Losee (Jan), sons Richard Eberle (Tammy) and Randall Gene Eberle (Kathy), step-daughter Margaret “Mackie” Hazlett, step-son Kenneth “Robbie” Cobb, many grandchildren, great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife Betty A. Reed, daughter Theresa Darby, son Glenn Darby, three grandchildren, Taliesha Darby, Morris “MJ” Darby-Boyd and Myron (Daniel) Woods, two great-grandchildren, brother Horace Reed, sister Nell (Louis) Irby and a host of nieces and nephews.

Age 61, died Tuesday, November 11, 2008 at his home with his loving family by his side after a long battle from Progressive Supranuclear Palsy. He was born December 15, 1946 in Adrian, MI to Donald Curtis and Alice (Babcock) Smith, Sr. Don attended Petersburg-Summerfield High and Adrian College. He worked for GM in both the Tecumseh and Adrian plant for 24 years retiring from Adrian in 1993. He also enjoyed working at the Top Shoppe, as a police officer, security officer, car salesman and cottage cheese maker. He was active in his community by school tutoring, a parade organizer and a Girl Scout and Boy Scout supporter. Don will be fondly remembered, however, for bringing joy to hundreds of Milan children as “Santa” in the Christmas holiday parade for the past 22 years. In addition to Santa his other passion was a love for antique cars especially his 1925 Ford Model T.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Mary Jo (O’Hare), three daughters Stacie Lynn (Jim), Danielle Lynn and Nicole Lynn, aunt and uncle Kathie and Basil Babcock, aunt Helen Babcock, aunt Helen Woerner and a very loving extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Sharon (Grof) and their daughter Tracie Lynn, his parents and a brother William.
Visitation will be Thursday, from 2-4 and 6-8pm at Ochalek-Stark Funeral Home, Milan where services will be held Friday at 11am. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery in Adrian. Age 74, died Sunday, November 16, 2008 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, Ann Arbor with his loving wife and devoted family by his side. He was born March 24, 1934 in Berkey, Ohio to Leo and Rosella (Miller) Eisel. He married Joyce LaBo on November 12, 1960 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Carleton, MI.
Leon was a 1952 graduate of Metamora High School in OH. He served in the US Army from 1956-1958 and was honorably discharged a Specialist 4th class. He earned his associates degree from Washtenaw Community College, retired from Ford Motor Co., Milan in July of 1990 where he was assistant Superintendent of Maintenance, and also owned and operated a farm in Milan for over 45 years.
He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Milan and was an active member of the Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Joyce; a son Lawrence (Jennifer) Eisel of Scottsdale, AZ; two daughters, Lori (Carey) Crays of Carleton and Lisa (Daniel) Engel of Milan; six grandchildren, David and Erin Eisel, Jonathan and Lauren Crays, and Heather and Kristin Engel; and eight brothers and sisters. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be held at Ochalek-Stark Funeral Home, Milan on Tuesday from 4-9pm and on Wednesday from 1-9pm where the Knights of Columbus will recite the rosary in his honor on Wednesday at 8-00pm.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, Nov. 20th at 11-00am at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Milan where he will lie in state from 10-00am until the time of service. Age 87, passed away Friday, October 31, 2008 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital after a brief illness. She was born February 1, 1922 in Milford, MI, the daughter of James and Elizabeth (Clark) Burley. One of eleven children, she grew up in the Milford area before moving to Ypsilanti. During World War II, she worked at the Willow Run Bomber Plant. In 1947, she met and married Wilber B. Kelly and they resided on the Kelly farm on Whittaker Road. After raising her three children, she was employed at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor. Her husband Wilber B. Kelly preceded her in death in 1993. She married Woodrow Jones in 1985 and he preceded her in death in 1993. Mildred is survived by her loving children- William (Bonnie) Kelly of North Olmsted, OH, Janet (William) Lawson of Lisbon, OH and Michael (Sheila) Kelly of Osseo, MI- xix grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; her brothers, Roy (Phoebe) Burley and Murray (Mary) Burley; her sisters, Thelma (Howard) Armstrong, Norma (Norton) Caswell, Ann Reese and Juanita (George) Rogers; and several nieces and nephews. He attended the Ann Arbor Public Schools and was currently a student at Commerce Square Young Adult Program. Patrick was an avid bowler. He loved music, movies and being with his friends and family. Degree in home economics from Michigan State University. On June 19, 1947, she married Clayton Postiff and he survives. She was a former member of Forest Avenue Baptist Church. Age 98, passed away Wednesday, October 29, 2008 at the Gilbert Residence. He was born January 3, 1910 in Milan Township, MI, the son of Roscoe and Nancy (Preston) Rendel. On April 2, 1932, he married Catherine Kronenberg in Pontiac, MI and she preceded him in death April 29, 2002. Mr. Rendel retired from Ford Motor Company, Ypsilanti plant in January of 1975 after 43 years of service. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Ypsilanti, Ypsilanti Lions Club, Experimental Aircraft Club, Society of Manufacturing Engineers, Law Enforcement and Industrial Security Association, EMU Chemistry Club, Depot Town Antique Engine Club and Yankee Air Force. Survivors include- six children, Carol (Robert) Sutter of Ypsilanti, Doris Sands of Livonia, David (Neola) Rendel of Eaton Rapids, Roger (Aree) Rendel of Toledo, OH, Keith Rendel of San Francisco, CA and Kathy (Robert) Peipert of Southlake, TX; 21 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; one brother, George Rendel of Sebring, FL; three sisters, Mildred Kemp-Rowe and Margaret Schechter, both of Ypsilanti and Lucille Dindoffer of Lambertville, MI; and several nieces and nephews. Age 94, died Sunday morning, October 26, 2008. He was born April 11, 1914 in Detroit to Albert and Ida (Homrich) Schultz. On August 10, 1935 he married Genevieve Marken in Whittaker and they made their home in Milan. Emil, with his brothers and father, co-founded Schultz Bottled Gas of Milan in 1939. For almost 70 years it still remains a family business, now operated by his children. Emil and Genevieve were committed to their church, family and business; serving families in the Milan area, whenever called upon. Emil was a devoted husband and father, always putting his family first. He was a lifetime member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of which he helped build. He also was an avid bowler and sponsor, loved the outdoors and enjoyed family time at the lake cottage. He was a quiet, unassuming, generous man who loved time spent with his family. Emil and Genevieve were always together and he died just a few hours after her passing.
Emil is survived by his daughter Virginia (Dan) Stralnic, and three sons, Marvin (Linda), Kenneth (Jan), and Eugene (Cindy) Schultz all of Milan, eleven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers; August, Edward and Walter Schultz and a sister Lydia Tykoski.
Visitation for both him and Genevieve will be held at Ochalek-Stark Funeral Home, Milan on Tuesday from 6-9pm and Wednesday from 1-4 and 6-9pm. Age 92, died unexpectedly in her home on Saturday, October 25, 2008. She was born March 28, 1916 in Detroit to Clyde and Hazel (Saxton) Marken. On August 10, 1935 she married Emil Schultz in Whittaker and they made their home in Milan. Emil and Genevieve were a loyal couple to Milan. They owned and operated Schultz Bottled Gas of Milan for almost 70 years. They were devoted to their church, family and business; serving families in the Milan area, whenever called upon. Genevieve was committed to her family. She enjoyed cooking and serving large family dinners. She watched all types of sports, but especially those her children and grandchildren were involved in. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Milan, the Ladies Aid society of the church and an avid bowler. She and her husband believed in the importance of family traditions. They were always together and he died just a few hours after her passing.
Genevieve is survived by her daughter Virginia (Dan) Stralnic, and three sons, Marvin (Linda), Kenneth (Jan), and Eugene (Cindy) Schultz all of Milan, eleven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers; Howard, Donald and Stanley Marken and two sisters; Margaret Schultz and Jean Engler.

Age 93, passed away Wednesday, November 12, 2008 at Provena Sacred Heart of NE Indiana in Avilla. He was born September 30, 1915 in Ypsilanti, the son of Arthur and Alice (Watling) Sherwood. He attended Roosevelt High School. On November 30, 1937, he married Loretta Arend at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Ypsilanti and she survives. Roy was a technical service engineer for Central Specialty for 30 years and then for Motor Wheel Corp. for twelve years, retiring in 1977. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed a cottage on Joslin Lake in Livingston County for 35 years. A wonderful man, he will be greatly missed by family and friends. Age 61, died Tuesday, November 11, 2008 at his home with his loving family by his side after a long battle from Progressive Supranuclear Palsy. He was born December 15, 1946 in Adrian, MI to Donald Curtis and Alice (Babcock) Smith, Sr. Don attended Petersburg-Summerfield High and Adrian College. He worked for GM in both the Tecumseh and Adrian plant for 24 years retiring from Adrian in 1993. He also enjoyed working at the Top Shoppe, as a police officer, security officer, car salesman and cottage cheese maker. He was active in his community by school tutoring, a parade organizer and a Girl Scout and Boy Scout supporter. Don will be fondly remembered, however, for bringing joy to hundreds of Milan children as “Santa” in the Christmas holiday parade for the past 22 years. In addition to Santa his other passion was a love for antique cars especially his 1925 Ford Model T. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Mary Jo (O’Hare), three daughters Stacie Lynn (Jim), Danielle Lynn and Nicole Lynn, aunt and uncle Kathie and Basil Babcock, aunt Helen Babcock, aunt Helen Woerner and a very loving extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his first wife Sharon (Grof) and their daughter Tracie Lynn, his parents and a brother William. On August 7, 1982, he married Luette Meeker and she survives. Randy was a mechanic at Zantop International Airlines, medically retired. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, working on his red Camaro, and spending time with his granddaughter. In addition to his wife, survivors include- three children, Jimmy Joe, Billy Glen and Luette Switzer; one granddaughter, Alyssa J. Switzer; three brothers, Johnnie R., Ralph M. and James C. On October 1, 1955, he married Sylvia I. Farrand in Ypsilanti, MI and she survives. Mr. Towler was a tool & die maker for Ford Motor Company for 44 years, retiring in 1998 from the Ypsilanti plant. He was a member of the Ypsilanti Moose Lodge #782. He also was a member of the Ypsilanti American Legion and V.F.W. Age 92 died Thursday, October 30, 2008 at his home with his loving wife of 66 years by his side. He was born February 20, 1916 in Gagetown, MI to Joseph and Mary (Holshoe) Woolner. On May 16, 1942 he married Marian Bird in Milan and she survives. Clayton managed the Milan Lumber Company for over 44 years until he retired in 1985. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, K of C Council, the Loyal Order of the Moose all of Milan, and the Boy Scouts of America.
He is survived by his wife Marian, a son David (Carmen) of Colorado, daughter Deborah (Richard) Ammentorp of CA, four grandchildren, Leanne, Bonni, Danielle, and Clay and four great-grandchildren, He was preceded in death by his son Daniel, grandson Raymond, three brothers and two sisters.
Visitation will be held at Ochalek-Stark Funeral Home, Milan on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8pm where a Rosary will be recited at 7-30pm. She was a 1952 graduate of Owosso Bible School and formerly attended Lincoln Consolidated Schools K-11. On May 15, 1954, she married George William Workman Jr. and he survives. Eulala was a former member of Merritt Road First Church of the Nazarene in Ypsilanti. She was a devoted, loving and faithful wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother and friend. She had many roles in her life and filled them all so well. She was loved and treasured by all who knew her. Because of her faith and love in Jesus Christ, we know she is resting in His Arms today!
